I am very impressed. This has been a help, but I am lost. My relatives are Mech. Karl Mech was born 12-19-1842 in Schinchow and his children in Konigsfelde. Where are these villages located? Karl Mech married ?? Schoeder (abt.1865/66) and had two boys, Theodore Mech, born 12-19-1867 and Edward born 2-2-1870. I assume she died. He remarried Caroline Polenske (b. 10-26-1840. She apperently was married ?? Maier and had two girls, Amelia (b. 1852) and Auguste (b. 1854). Karl and Caroline married about 1871. They had six children. Theresa Mech (b. 10-20-1872), Emil Charles Mech (b. 10-23-1874), Emma Adeline Mech (b. 12-2-1876), Charles Mech (b. 3-1879), and Caroline and Minnie Louise Mech (b. 4-18-1883). They emmigrated to America (Chicago, Illinois) in 1883- apparently after April 18 as the twins are said to be born in Konigsfelde. I realize the information is scanty in places, but perhaps somebody may see this and recognize these people. Thanks so very much for any and all help.

I just read some of the queries and pleased with all of them. On my mother's side her maiden name was MATZELL. Recently I have found out that the spelling was probably MATZEL and pronounced "MUT" "CEL". So if anyone whereever you live is doing any research on the MATZEL/MATZELL family please contact me. My grandfather Julius Gustav or Gustav Julius MATZEL/MATZELL was an orphan. His death certificate shows a "FRED" for his father and a "BARBARA" for his mother. I would assume the last name for his father was MATZEL/MATZELL Thank you Ken

I am looking for information about my gg-grandfather, Carl Nibbe, born on 9/22/1839 in Pommern. The area was called Bezirk Stettin, Greifenburg, Aries Tressin. His wife, my gg-grandmother, was Albertine Nibbe (Sueflow), born on 4/9/1845. They were married in 1863, probably in the Greifenberg area. They immigrated to the US in 1868, settling in Minnesota in 1869 with 3 young children (Reinhardt, Robert, and Anna). Also, in 1869, Johann and Erasthune Nibbe immigrated from Pommern with a Julius Nibbe (son?), destined for Milwaukee WI. We believe now that they were Carl's parents. So any information about any other Nibbes in that area of Pommern would be appreciated, especially who Johann's parents were and any other children born to Johann and Erasthune.
